Film North is pleased to announce the dates for its 4th annual festival in Huntsville, Ontario, Canada. The green carpet will roll out for another three days of stellar screenings at the Algonquin Theatre on Main Street from Thursday, September 19th through Saturday, September 21st, 2013. Film North is Muskoka's first and only international film festival. It represents a rare, annual opportunity for the festival goer to experience a program of carefully selected significant Canadian and international films, celebrity led panels, an award gala and fabulous dinners, receptions and parties in this charming, easy paced, user friendly lake district setting.

The anticipated program will be released to the public and media on August 23rd 2013 and promises to be a world class collection of intelligent films created by some of the world's finest filmmakers. The program will include short - and feature-length films in a variety of categories from documentary, horror, drama, environmental to comedic and political.

Film North is also very pleased to announce a new award, Best Animated Film. The 2013 Retrospective Series, programmed by Co-Founder Cameron Wing, will address representations of stand up comedy in feature film.

The Film North selection committee will continue to acquire the finest films for the 2013 festival. Some highlights from last year’s festival included: Butter, directed by Jim Field Smith, starring Jennifer Garner (Ontario premiere), and Antiviral (TIFF 2012 Skyy Vodka Award for Best Canadian First Feature Film), Chef de Muete (Herd Leader) (TIFF’s Top 10 Short Films).

The 2012 festival showcased 43 films and hosted 41 filmmakers. Of these films, 15 were world premieres and 6 were Canadian premiers. The popular shorts program also returned with 34 films. The Film North "Bull's Eye" Lifetime Achievement Award past recipients include Graeme Ferguson (filmmaker, co-inventor of IMAX), 2010; Michael Snow (filmmaker and artist), 2011; and Sheila McCarthy (actor), 2012.

A COMMUNITY AND INDUSTRY AFFAIR
Filmmakers are invited and encouraged to accompany their films and participate in post screening Q&A sessions. This creates a unique opportunity for industry and audience interaction.
